Belgrade (Serbia)
August 15 - 16, 2025 (2D1N): Our trip to Serbia, my 100th country, happened by pure chance! When a last-minute hotel cancellation in Rovinj, Croatia, wrecked our plans, we pointed our car east for a six-hour road trip to Serbia. The return journey was a nightmare where we endured a five-hour border crossing as summer vacationers headed home. Nonetheless, we were so impressed by Belgradeβs incredible history and thriving art scene, and we absolutely fell in love with the amazing national dish, Δevapi!

Tips:
Free public transportation is available in Belgrade for all passengers on city and suburban buses, trams, trolleybuses, and the BG Train, starting January 1, 2025. We utilized the bus system to get from the old town to the new part of Belgrade.
Take the tram from the stop ΠΠ°Π»Π΅ΠΌΠ΅Π³Π΄Π°Π½ for the scenic route through the old town.
Belgrade is a walking city. If you must take a taxi, don't hail one on the street. They are known to overcharge tourists. Instead, use a ride-sharing app like Yandex Go or CarGo (Serbia's version of Uber).
The currency in Serbia is Serbian Dinar (RSD), not the Euro. Most establishments take Visa & Mastercard, while AMEX is limited.
Smoking is still allowed in most of the establishments indoors, so plan accordingly.
